Wiring diagrams for a quick connection

Wiring specifications common to all LabKey devices, control units and readers: RS-485 bus, DIP switch addressing and relay connection.

The electrical wiring specifications between the control unit and the control devices are the same across the whole LabKey range and are described here only once. The individual reader pages link back to this section for the wiring, and only cover the model-specific mechanical mounting instructions.

DIP Switch Guide

Before starting, set each control device’s numbering using the switches on its electronic board, following the addressing table below.

RS-485 Bus Wiring

The connection between the control unit and the control device is made via an RS-485 cable: recommended 4-wire cable, maximum distance 200 m, watch the terminal block polarity.

Electrical Connection

The control unit requires the supplied 12V/1A power supply. Any electronic device managed via a dry contact can be connected to the relays. Every control device, except the LabKey Mini Radio Keypad, is powered directly from the RS485 bus.

Extreme QR Code USB Wiring

The flush-mounted Extreme QR Code reader connects to the control unit via a USB to RJ-50 cable.
